 Fire in Gulzar Houz: A massive fire broke out in Gulzar House near Charminar in Hyderabad on Sunday (May 18) morning, killing 17 people. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed grief over the incident and directed senior officials to take all necessary steps to rescue those trapped in the building.

Prime Minister Modi also expressed grief over the incident. He also announced compensation for the families of the deceased. Prime Minister Modi tweeted, "Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the fire incident in Hyderabad, Telangana. My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I wish the injured a speedy recovery. An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh will be given to the next of kin of each deceased from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. Rs 50,000 will be given to the injured."

According to a fire department official, the information about the fire was received at around 6.30 am and firefighters reached the spot. He said that many people were found unconscious and were admitted to the hospital. After visiting the scene, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy told reporters, "The police have informed that eight people died in the fire incident, but only the authorities concerned will confirm it." He said that some children were among the dead.


The bodies of the deceased have been kept at various hospitals in Hyderabad.
