 The BCCI has announced the selection committee for the Indian Test team for the tour of England. Along with this, the selection committee has also selected the new captain and vice-captain of the team. Shubman Gill has been appointed as the captain in the position left vacant after the retirement of Rohit Sharma. This announcement by the BCCI has put an end to many kinds of rumors. Many players were in the race for the captaincy of the Test team, but the BCCI has expressed its hope on Gill and has made Rishabh Pant the vice-captain of the team.

Just a few days before the India-England tour, two senior Indian players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retired from Test cricket. Finding players to replace the experienced players was also a challenge. Therefore, the BCCI has selected the Indian team keeping in mind the mix. Selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar also announced the 18-member Indian team through a press conference in Mumbai. After a month of brainstorming on the issue and the hurdles created by IPL 2025, a young Indian team has now been formed. Which will be ready for India's World Test Championship (WTC 2015-27) cycle.

The BCCI has given ample opportunities to the youth along with the experience in the team. The following players have been selected for the upcoming Test series - Shubman Gill (captain), Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper and vice-captain), Yashavi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudarshan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhrurub Jurel, Mohammed Siraj, Arshadeep Singh, Pranam Krishna, Akash Deep and Kuldeep Yadav.

Everyone is eagerly waiting for the India-England Test series starting from 20th June. This season will feature five Test matches, starting in Leeds on June 20. The second match of the season will be played at Edgbaston on July 2. The third Test, starting on July 10, will be played at Lord's in London. The fourth Test match is scheduled to be played at Old Trafford on July 23 and the fifth match at The Oval on July 31. With this, the 2025-27 cycle of the World Test Championship will begin between India and England.
