The market building in Bhubaneswar is bustling with activity for Savitri. The crowd of women is increasing for shopping. Not just for themselves, but also for their sisters-in-law, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law. About four to five sarees are being bought for each house.
Mothers are busy shopping a little in advance to send their daughters home, so the market is very busy.
Especially in the evening, women come to the market building in Bhubaneswar in large numbers to get Savitri ready.
Many shopkeepers also give discounts on Savitri. The price of Bhagalpuri Cuttack sarees ranges from Rs 6 to 12,000, Kalyani silk from Rs 500 to 1000, traditional art silk from Rs 800 to 18,000, organza sarees from Rs 1500 to 4,000, Surat imported sarees from Rs 3000 to 3,000 and cotton sarees from Rs 200 to 1000.
Especially, red, pink and yellow sarees are the first choice of women.
In addition, puja items like conch, vermilion, alat, glass bangles, red thread and mehndi are also sold on the roadside. The price of which starts from Rs 10 to Rs 50.
The price of a packet containing all the puja items starts from Rs 30. For which there is a huge market crowd in the evening.
Meanwhile, various fruit-bearing baskets are also sold. The price of which starts from Rs 200. Mango is priced at Rs 120 per kilo, while sugarcane is priced at Rs 250 to 300, while grapes are priced at Rs 200.
