The IMD DG has given detailed information about the monsoon situation in the country from June to September. He said that this time, some parts of South India, some parts of North West and North East India may receive less than normal rainfall. Except this, the rest of the country will receive more rainfall.
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya may receive less rainfall. But Odisha will receive good rainfall.
Monsoon winds have already reached South India. There is more monsoon rainfall in May.
On Tuesday, the low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal will move further north and westwards. This will activate the monsoon winds in the Bay of Bengal and further strengthen it.
Monsoon normally reaches Odisha by June 12. This time the monsoon is more active. And it has reached Kerala early.
The Meteorological Department has predicted that there will be heavy rainfall in the state for the next four days due to the effect of the low pressure. For this, the SRS has directed all the district collectors to be alert.
Orange alert has been issued for some districts with heavy to very heavy rainfall for today and tomorrow.
Today, especially, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Cuttack, Koraput and Rayagada districts will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. Orange alert has been issued for these 5 districts. An alert has been issued for the rain along with the wind speed of 60 kmph.
Apart from this, a yellow alert has been issued for some other districts of the state today. These districts are Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khordha, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar. The Meteorological Department has said that there will be heavy rainfall in these districts along with the wind speed of 50 kmph.
Along with this, there will be rain in various places of western Odisha.
Similarly, an orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara on Thursday. The department has also warned of wind speeds of 50 to 60 kmph.
Similarly, heavy rainfall is likely at many places in western and southern Odisha on 30th.
The weather department has warned of good rainfall in Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar on 31st.
