A husband allegedly killed his wife in Bandhasahi village under Udla police limits of Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday for not cooking her egg fry for lunch. The accused has been identified as Lama Baske.
According to reports, Lama Baske returned home from work at noon to find that his wife Basanti Baske had not cooked the egg fry she had brought earlier and had fed him rice with a different fry. This led to a heated argument between the couple.
The argument turned violent when Lama attacked Basanti in front of her house. He then dragged her inside and hit her on the head several times with a stove pipe. She died on the spot.
Acting on a tip-off, the Udla police reached the village, recovered the body and arrested the accused. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
