A minor girl was allegedly raped by a priest at the Mukteswar temple yesterday. A minor girl was found sleeping in the courtyard of the famous Shaivite temple Mukteswar under Jamanakira in Sambalpur district and was raped by a temple priest on Sunday afternoon, a complaint was filed at the Jamanakira police station.
Based on the minor's report, the 35-year-old temple priest who raped her from Mukteswar village has been arrested and police are investigating. Police sources said that the accused temple priest will be tried in court after his medical examination, statement record, and health examination. It is not yet known what steps the management committee and the trust board staff are taking regarding the shameful incident of the minor girl being raped in the temple courtyard. When asked about the permanent trustee of the temple trust board, PV Kannappa, he informed that a meeting of the management committee and the trust board staff will be held in the temple courtyard tomorrow. The devotees who were engaged on Sunday afternoon were questioned and the accused was arrested. According to the police report, action will be taken against the accused devotees as per the decision of the meeting called at 10 am on Monday.

The temple management trust board and the parents of the deity couple have printed invitation cards and distributed invitations to the devotees, friends, relatives and well-wishers of the area. While preparations are in full swing, such a shameful incident at the Mukteswar temple has been condemned in the intellectual community. The Jamankira police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. The Sambalpur scientific team has reached the temple and collected information from the scene.
