Monsoon arrives in Kerala ahead of schedule, good news for farmers!

 The monsoon has arrived in India early this year. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon reached the Kerala coast on May 24, 8 days before the usual date of June 1. It has arrived before the monsoon season since 2009. At that time, the monsoon arrived on May 23. Along with this, the initial rains have brought great relief to crores of farmers and people suffering from heat across the country.

According to the IMD, as soon as the monsoon reaches the coast, heavy rains are likely to occur in Kerala. Due to which the temperature will come down. Meanwhile, rains are likely to start in states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Goa and Maharashtra, Odisha in the coming days. Along with this, the sowing of kharif crops in these states can start during the sowing season.


This news is particularly positive for farmers. Because abundant rains will improve the yield of kharif crops like paddy, maize and millet. This will strengthen the rural economy, employment and food supply chain. It is also expected to control inflation.


The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted very heavy rainfall at isolated places over coastal Kerala and south interior Karnataka, Konkan and Goa on Saturday. Kerala and coastal Karnataka are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph till May 29.


The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for 23 districts of Odisha. Thunderstorm, lightning and light to moderate rainfall are likely to occur with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph during the next three hours.
