Odisha High Court sets unique bail conditions; Accused will clean bank for 2 months

 In a rare verdict, the Orissa High Court on Thursday granted bail to a woman accused of bank fraud on a special condition to work as a sweeper in the concerned bank for two months. The accused, Manojyan Pattnaik, was involved in a bank fraud case where she had mortgaged a property multiple times and had taken a loan of Rs 1.05 crore through three different accounts in ICICI Bank on Cuttack Road.

Investigation revealed that the property had earlier been used as collateral for another loan at the Ashok Nagar branch of Indian Bank in Bhubaneswar. The woman was arrested by the Crime Branch on February 5.


After the bail was rejected by the lower court, the accused woman Manojyan approached the High Court. The High Court judge Justice S.K. Panigrahi granted such strict conditional bail to the accused. While hearing the bail application of the accused, the High Court clarified that the accused will have to clean the bank premises every day between 8 am and 10 am for two months. If he fails to fulfill this condition, then his bail will be cancelled.

The local police station officer will monitor whether the accused is complying with this condition or not. In addition, the accused will also cooperate in all investigations. In addition, the court clarified in its order that the evidence against the accused will not be destroyed. If the accused violates any of the conditions, then his bail will be cancelled, the High Court said.
