H1. Odisha Govt to buy land from Tribal: The Odisha government has proposed to buy land directly from tribals and Dalits in the scheduled areas of the state. The government claims that this move will help in stopping such land grabbing by influential people. Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari said that the state government has constituted a committee to take steps for this.

H2. Sudhakar Burgi Appointed New Chairman Of OSSC: Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) member IAS Sudhakar Burgi IAS (retd) has been appointed as its chairman in Bhubaneswar. The decision was taken after the resignation of former DGP Abhay. The former OSSC chairman resigned from his post on May 19, 2025.

Odisha CM unveils 24 industrial projects: Adding another page of success to the rich industrial history of Odisha, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi today laid the foundation stone and inaugurated industrial projects worth Rs 1.15 lakh crore at Kalinganagar in Jajpur. The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of a total of 20 projects and inaugurated 4 new projects. This has created about 36 thousand new jobs.

H4. Low Pressure likely to form over Bay of Bengal: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicted that a low pressure area is likely to form over west-central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal around May 27. It is likely to intensify in the next 2 days.

H5. Supreme Court On Waqf Act 2025: The Supreme Court concluded the hearing on the petition challenging the validity of the Waqf (Amendment) Act 2025 on Thursday (April 22). The court reserved its verdict. In the three-day hearing, the petitioners had said that the law was against the rights of Muslims and had sought an interim stay. While the central government strongly opposed it and said that the law was correct.

Supreme Court On TASMAC liquor Scam: The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the money laundering investigation against the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) in the Rs 1,000 crore liquor scam case. During the hearing, the court came down heavily on the Enforcement Directorate (ED), saying, "ED is violating the Constitution and crossing all limits."

Kiru Hydropower Corruption Case: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik and five others in connection with the Rs 2,200 crore civil works contract for the Kiru hydropower project. After a 3-year investigation, the CBI has filed a chargesheet against all of them.

H8. US Plane Crash: A domestic plane crashed in America, killing many people. On Thursday (May 22, 2025), a plane crashed near San Diego, California, in which about 15 houses and several vehicles caught fire. The accident took place in the largest residential area of the US military.
