H1. Odisha Govt to buy land from Tribal: The Odisha government has proposed to buy land directly from tribals and Dalits in the scheduled areas of the state. The government claims that this move will help in stopping such land grabbing by influential people. Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari said that the state government has constituted a committee to take steps for this.

The court reserved its verdict. In the three-day hearing, the petitioners had said that the law was against the rights of Muslims and had sought an interim stay. While the central government strongly opposed it and said that the law was correct.
